The mount creates a repeatable contact point. Correct placement matters: the magnetic surfaces need contact and the lower guard must align with the trigger area.
Place a compatible metal surface against the rubber-coated magnetic pads.
Position the firearm so the integrated guard covers the trigger area without forcing the fit.
With the firearm unloaded, verify clearance, retention and release before relying on the installed position.
At roughly 4.3 inches wide, the mount is designed for flat areas where a larger storage system would take over the space.

I really like this mount. Will probably buy again for another vehicle. It fits my Glock model 45 and Glock 36 great.
